SAFE – Watermark Detecting Tray. Made specifically in black plastic. Being black it acts as a first point for checking watermarks in stamps – where stamp is placed face down & watermark presence is usually visible. The tray has 2 areas – one smooth where watermark detecting fluid is applied [sparingly] onto the back of the face down stamp – until just saturated – the watermark should then become very visible & decipherable – the ribbed section is used to allow rapid evaporation of watermark detecting fluid.As there is NO WATER component in the watermark fluid it is safe to use on both Mint & Used stamps
